Sir Henry Nicholls 1758-1830. He was born in Shirehampton, Bristol, the son of the agent to the politician Lord de Clifford of Kingsweston. Nicholls was described as displaying an honest bluntness that earned the respect of Lord de Clifford and saw him despatched at a young age, somewhat appropriately, to a school in Yorkshire.
